February’s History

The Second Month of the Ancient Roman Calendar

FEBRUUSFebruus is an ancient divinity, the Etruscan god of riches. But in order to be worthy of this great god’s gifts, one has to be clear of internal ego-driven obstacles, pure of heart and intention, with a soul that is constantly referenced by the Sacred and a mind that is informed by a heart and soul working symbiotically for the evolution of one’s whole being. So in this beautiful lunar cycle we move into February as a powerful, cleansing, renewing and rebirthing time of the year. Februarium is the Latin word for February and it means to “cleanse” or “purify.” In ancient times, devout people throughout the Mediterranean engaged in holy rites each according to their own cultural traditions to purify themselves so that they could embark upon the New Year with a firm and sacred resolve to carry through their January intentions and resolutions sincerely and with integrity.
