Earth Affirmation – Simple Discipline

Earth affirmation

“Earth-in-your-Angel, I come to you in your form as Fire. As the world-soul you have called me and I come bearing the gift of my own personal tragedy to feed the blue-red-gold flames of your great loving heart. In the Fire of who you are I know the intimacy of your own lifeblood and of you in your death and rebirth dance. You draw down your golden beloved Sun-star and together in a stirring passion-play the life you spill sparks thunder and lightning. As Fire you sweep across the landscape of your own being, changing the face of your own Self as you move in the form of wind-song intent upon your own metamorphosis. Yet you leave as a tender mercy the ashen remains of your fiery dance that, as a grace-full afterthought, guarantees life itself.”

The month of March then signifies power-full movement; unfolding; unearthing; emerging. I invite you to fearlessly examine the nature of and the shifting yet inter-related aspects of the great deity we have named Mars. The archetype who tells it’s story through our own life story in the manner of a war god, a healer, an overseer and protector of sacred places, of the healing waters of Earth; the god of the hunt, the provider of food, and the cherisher of life itself. The challenge is to throw off, or rise above your own fear of contradiction, either in the outer world or your own inner world.

Renew your altar at this time and have it reflect the significations of March. Each day, after repeating the earth affirmation for this month, open your Self, your consciousness, through meditations, visualizations in an internal journeying experience, journaling or art making processes etc. to receiving guidance, in-sight, and or a wisdom tradition that will reconcile what seem to be the opposites in your Self and or in your life. How can a god of war be at the same time a healer? How can a destroyer of life be at the same time a cherisher of life? Examine the archetype within yourself. Who is the warrior within? And what war is he or she engaged in? Does your warrior carry out the fight in-relation with your opponent carrying the martial qualities of the glorious golden daffodil–chivalry, respect, modesty, faithfulness, love and joy into the fray? Remember we all have battles to fight and win! None of us is perfect! Who is the healer within? Who is the protector and cherisher of sacred places? The hunter who can find what is needed for nourishment and sustenance? What are the aspects of your Self and your life that need to re-birth; that need to rise and throw off the hard-packed winter snow and that need to thunder and storm their way up and out into the bright light of a new day? Yes! This is a power-full time. It is an emergence. And it takes the strength and courage of the warrior spirit in our Selves to move into the spring of this ongoing New Year. Do not be afraid of that spirit. It too has its place.
